Wildwood Is Going Back To Single Stream Recycling

Effective August 1, 2019, Waste Connections will be providing single-stream recycling to Wildwood residents. Materials will be collected in one toter. Glass will be allowed in the stream.

1. What can I recycle?

The following are allowed.  Stick to the Six:

Flattened Cardboard
Plastic Bottles and Containers
Glass Bottles and Jars
Metal Food & Beverage Cans
Food & Beverage Cartons

Any other items will contaminate the toter and possibly the truck load, causing the majority of the load to not be recycled.

Make sure items are clean, dry and free of food items. Items should be loose in the toter. Plastic bags are not recyclable in curbside single stream, nor are they allowed in the recycling toter, as they can create problems in the recycling and sorting machinery.

2. How many recycle toters will I have?

Since we are providing Single Stream Recycling you will have 1 toter.

3. Will you take bags and cardboard outside the recycling toter?

Loose cardboard will be taken. Bagged recycle will not be taken. Waste connections will provide a 2nd toter free for overflow.

4. Will Waste Connections provide the recycle toter?

Please keep your current blue Rigids recycling toter or green City of Wildwood toter that was previously provided at your residence. Waste Connections will be recovering the new, blue 65-gallon Fiber toter.

5. Are Pizza Boxes recycable?

Pizza boxes are not recycable.  The inevitable grease contaiminates the cardboard and can cause an entire toter load of single stream to be rejected and treated as trash. No toter with a pizza box inside will be dumped in the recycle truck. This runs the risk of contaminating the entrire truck load.
